About That's So Kitsch
Every destination begins with a story.
That's So Kitsch is an independent design studio creating original collections inspired by the places people love to explore—and a few they might wish had always existed.
From public observatories and botanical conservatories to county fairs, libraries, recreation areas, and curious institutions, each destination is thoughtfully developed as a place with its own history, atmosphere, and collection of artifacts. Rather than beginning with a product, every collection begins with a destination.
The result is a growing world where everyday objects become keepsakes from memorable places, inviting curiosity long after the visit is over.
Our
Philosophy
We believe the best souvenirs tell a story.
That's why every collection begins by asking a simple question:
"If this place really existed, what would visitors bring home?"
Whether it's a field journal, museum mug, visitor guide, or thoughtfully designed tote, every piece is created to feel like it belongs to the destination it represents.

founder. designer. curator.
Creating original destinations inspired by curiosity, nostalgia, and exploration.
Heather is a designer, writer, and photographer whose work is inspired by the places people remember long after they've left them.
Drawn to museum gift shops, independent bookstores, national parks, historic theaters, botanical gardens, roadside attractions, and the quiet details that give a destination its character, she created That's So Kitsch as an independent design studio where every collection begins with a place rather than a product.
Each destination starts with research, writing, illustration, and world-building before becoming a thoughtfully curated collection of everyday artifacts. By blending storytelling with vintage-inspired design, Heather creates pieces that feel less like merchandise and more like souvenirs from somewhere visitors wish they could actually explore.
Through That's So Kitsch, she continues to build a growing collection of original destinations that celebrate curiosity, nostalgia, and the joy of discovering somewhere unexpected.
