Since 1974, Harvest Moon Festival has gathered performers, readers, musicians, writers, makers, volunteers, and audiences beneath the changing trees.
What began with a temporary outdoor stage has grown into a full season of theatre, literature, music, poetry, storytelling, workshops, staged readings, commissioned work, community-created performances, and traditions that return with the autumn light.
Shakespeare remains an honored presence within the festival—not as its boundary, but as one of its guiding literary and theatrical influences. His work helped establish a tradition of language spoken aloud, inherited stories reconsidered, and audiences gathered in a shared place. Each season carries that tradition forward while making room for new voices, new forms, and stories that belong to the present.

Harvest Moon Festival Journal
The official Storykeeper journal of Harvest Moon Festival, created for preserving the performances, passages, conversations, music, and small traditions that make one season different from every other.

A festival is made from more than the events printed in its program. It is the song heard while an audience gathers. The line underlined during a reading. The conversation carried across Orchard Lawn. The lanterns appearing as dusk settles beneath the trees. The unexpected performance that continues unfolding long after the stage has gone dark.

The festival extends beyond any single stage or production. Across the grounds, performance, reading, music, conversation, creation, and preservation unfold in spaces shaped by their own traditions.
Moonlight Stage
Harvest Moon’s primary outdoor performance space, presenting classical repertory, contemporary theatre, commissioned productions, literary adaptations, music, and ensemble work beneath the evening sky.
Bard's Bookshop
A literary gathering place offering plays, poetry, fiction, festival publications, journals, archive reproductions, reading materials, and stories selected for the walk home.​

Orchard Lawn & Lantern Walk
The common ground of the festival, where pre-show music, readings, conversation, blankets beneath the trees, and lantern-lit paths carry visitors from the afternoon gathering into the evening performance.​

Festival Story Workshop
A home for original plays, oral histories, staged readings, community-created work, visiting artists, literary adaptations, workshops, and stories still finding their final form.​

Somewhere a story is being spoken aloud.
